Document Vault Administration / Content Replication and Archiving |
After creating an export package, you can import its content to a vault of your choosing.
The Import Content function is used in particular when one wishes to import data to another vault for example for replication, publication, archiving, or backup purposes. The objects and their metadata are imported and synchronized with those in the target vault. M-Files always imports versions that are new or changed when comparing against the current versions in the target vault.
The importing dialog is accessed through Content Replication and Archiving > Import Content…
The import dialog is divided into the same three tabs as the export dialog – Package Location, Objects and Files and Structure – but also contains a fourth tab for permission settings.
If you have archived documents in M-Files 8.0 or older, you cannot restore an archive file in the .mfa file format to a 9.0 (or newer) version vault. If you want to restore an archive file in the .mfa file format, restore the file to a vault using M-Files 8.0 or older. After this, you can update this vault to version 9.0 (and newer) and archive content for future use.
