Exporting Views and Search Results
You can export metadata of single objects, search results, or views to a text file (in .csv format). This file can be opened for example in Microsoft Excel. In the new M-Files Desktop, you can also export files.
Note: For optimal performance, the export is limited to 1000 items. If the number of
exported items is more than 1000, only the first 1000 are included in the .csv
file.
To start the export:
- Select the objects that you want to export.

Select one of these options:
- To export a view, right-click over the view title or an empty area in
the listing area and select Export from the context
menu.or
- To export search results, right-click an empty area in the listing area
and select Export from the context menu.or
- To export a single object, select the object and select Export from the context menu.
- To export a view, right-click over the view title or an empty area in
the listing area and select Export from the context
menu.

Select the information that you want to export:
Option Description Export visible columns only When selected, only columns that are visible in the listing view are exported. Export IDs of values When selected, the ID is appended to each value for clarity. Export files (only in new M-Files Desktop)
When selected, all files of objects are exported. The export process creates the .csv file and a folder for files.
Note: If the exported objects have a large number of files, it can take a long time to export them. - Click OK.
Note: If you use M-Files Web, the .csv file is
automatically downloaded to the default download location of your
browser.
- With the new M-Files Desktop, select the location where you want to save the file and enter the file name.

Select Save.
Result:The confirmation dialog is opened.

Click Yes.
Result:The .csv file is saved to the specified folder on your computer.
