Enabling Internet Information Services (IIS) Components

These Internet Information Services (IIS) components must be enabled on the M-Files server before web and mobile access can be set up:

  • Internet Information Services Hostable Web Core
  • Common HTTP Features
  • ASP.NET features
  • Dynamic Content Compression
  • Windows Authentication
  • IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility
  • IIS 6 Management Console
  • Static Content

To enable the features:

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Open Programs and Features.
  3. Click Turn Windows features on or off.
    Result:The Windows Features dialog is opened.
  4. Enable Internet Information Services Hostable Web Core.
  5. Go to Internet Information Services > World Wide Web Services and enable Common HTTP Features.
  6. Go to Internet Information Services > World Wide Web Services > Application Development Features and enable the ASP.NET features.
  7. Go to Internet Information Services > World Wide Web Services > Performance Features and enable Dynamic Content Compression.
  8. Go to Internet Information Services > World Wide Web Services > Security and enable Windows Authentication.
  9. Go to Internet Information Services > Web Management Tools > IIS 6 Management Compatibility and enable IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility and IIS 6 Management Console.
  10. Go to Internet Information Services > World Wide Web Services > Common HTTP Features and enable the Static Content feature.
  11. Click OK.
You now have the neccesary components installed and you are ready to enable web and mobile access on the selected server computer.
