Editing Documents with Microsoft Office for the Web

To edit a document in a vault that uses Microsoft Office for the web:

  1. Right-click the document in the listing area.
    For a document with multiple files, click the arrow on the left side of the document to open a list of files included in the document. Then, right-click the file that you want to edit.
  2. Select Open in browser.
  3. Click Check out.
    This makes sure that only you can edit the document.
    To edit a document that is checked out to someone else, click the document with the secondary mouse button and select Ask object to be checked in.
    Result:M-Files opens the document in the Microsoft Office for the web editor.
  4. Make your changes in the editor.
    Your changes are automatically saved.
  5. When you are done with your edits, close the editor tab.
  6. In M-Files, right-click the document in the listing area.
  7. Click Check in.
Your edits are checked in to the vault and can be seen by other users.
