Archiving Content
Vault content that is no longer in active use can be archived to a separate archive file. The file can later be used to restore the archived content back to the vault.
Note: Only vault admins
can use the archiving commands, and they are only supported in the classic M-Files Desktop.
Marking content for archiving
To set objects to be archived:
- In the classic M-Files Desktop, select the objects on the listing area.
- Click one of the selected objects with the secondary mouse button.
- Select .
Clearing the archiving status
To remove the archiving marker:
- In the classic M-Files Desktop, select the objects on the listing area.
- Click one of the selected objects with the secondary mouse button.
- Select .
Archiving and restoring content in M-Files Admin
The archiving operation done with M-Files Admin moves the marked objects from the vault to a separate archive file. See Archiving Old Versions.
You can restore the archived content to the vault with Content Replication and Archiving.
