Creating a New Client Secret and ID
Sometimes it can be necessary to create a new client secret because you cannot see its value after the client secret has been created and you have closed the dialog where it is shown. When you create a new client secret, M-Files Manage also creates a new client ID.
Important: When you create a new client secret, M-Files Manage
also creates a new client ID. Be prepared to update any configuration that references the previous
client ID.
Tip: Creating a new client secret disables user provisioning. This is because the previous
client secret becomes invalid. To enable user provisioning, you must enter the new client secret and
client ID to the M-Files app configuration in Microsoft Entra ID.
To create a new client secret for an Entra app gallery user provisioning configuration:
- Log in to M-Files Manage at https://manage.m-files.com.
- Go to .
- In the Configurations section, find the correct configuration for user provisioning.
- Select Create new client secret.
-
In the confirmation dialog that is opened, select Create.
Result:M-Files Manage creates new client secret and client ID.
-
Select the copy icon (
) for both values that M-Files Manage created and note down the values.
Note: The client secret is not shown anywhere else when you close the dialog.
For example, to update the client secret in an Entra ID SCIM app, you can do the following:
- Log in to Azure Portal at https://portal.azure.com.
- Select Microsoft Entra ID.
- If you have more than one tenant, select Manage tenants and select your tenant from the list of available directories.
- On your tenant's Entra ID page, go to Enterprise applications.
-
In the applications list, find and select the M-Files application.
Result:The application's Overview page is opened.
- Go to Provisioning and select Edit Provisioning.
- In the Admin Credentials section, enter the new client ID and client secret.
- Select Save.
