Synchronizing changes from Entra ID to M-Files
After you make a change in Entra ID (for example, add a user, edit a group, or edit user data), Entra ID sends it to M-Files after a short delay. To force Entra ID to send the change, click Provision on Demand on the application's provisioning page.
Synchronization of Changes in Entra ID User Group Members
If the user is added to or removed from a user group:
- M-Files Manage checks the highest license type available for the user from the remaining user groups and the default license type. The license type is updated if necessary.
If the user is removed from all groups that are provisioned to M-Files Manage:
- The user is disabled in M-Files Manage.
- The user gets the default license type set in the user provisioning configuration.
If a provisioned user is removed from Microsoft Entra ID:
- The user is disabled in M-Files Manage.
- The license is removed from the user in M-Files Manage.
Example: Synchronization of changes
A user is provisioned to M-Files Manage with a configuration that has no license as the default license type. The user is part of these user groups that are provisioned to M-Files Manage:
Group | License type |
---|---|
A | Read-only |
B | Concurrent |
C | Named |
With this setup, the user gets a named user license. See the next table for information on how the license changes in M-Files Manage when the setup is changed.
Change in Entra ID | Active license type of the user |
---|---|
User removed from group A, B, or both | Named |
User removed from group C | Concurrent |
User removed from groups B and C | Read-only |
User removed from all the groups | No license (default license type) |
User removed from Microsoft Entra ID | No license (license removed) |
