Setting up a Microsoft 365 connection
To authorize Microsoft 365 native experiences and enable Microsoft 365 storage, you must first grant tenant-wide admin consent to the M-Files SharePoint Embedded (SPE) application. With the consent, the application can create file storage containers in your organization's Microsoft 365 tenant and manage only those containers. Currently, Microsoft 365 native experiences include native co-authoring, native Copilot, and native Search.
To grant tenant-wide admin consent, you must have a Microsoft Entra ID user account with one of these roles:
- Privileged Role Administrator
- Cloud Application Administrator
- Application Administrator
- A custom directory role that includes the permission to grant permissions to applications
For more information on the roles, refer to Microsoft Entra built-in roles in Microsoft Learn.
