Enabling Desktop Co-Authoring
Important information:
- Content replication is not currently supported in vaults that have desktop co-authoring enabled.
- After desktop co-authoring is enabled, it cannot be disabled.
- You can only enable one type of co-authoring in one vault. If web co-authoring is enabled, you must disable it before you can enable desktop co-authoring.
- This feature is in development for M-Files Web and the new M-Files Desktop. More functionalities will be available soon. Before you start, check the known issues and limitations in Microsoft 365 Storage and Desktop Co-Authoring FAQ in M-Files Support Portal.
- It is recommended to use desktop co-authoring with M-Files September '25 Update or later.
Before you can enable desktop co-authoring in a vault, you must set up a connection between M-Files and Microsoft 365. For instructions, refer to Setting up a Microsoft 365 Connection on M-Files Manage. After you set up the connection, please wait at least an hour before you enable desktop co-authoring so that the connection can take effect.
Desktop co-authoring is available for M-Files Cloud customers in selected M-Files platform editions. When this feature is enabled, it is the default edit operation for documents that can be co-authored.
