Editing Documents with Desktop Applications

To edit a document with a desktop application:

  1. Make sure that you have the M-Files Web Companion application installed.
  2. Right-click the document in the listing area.
  3. Select Open in desktop app.
  4. Select Check out.
    Result:The document is opened in the desktop application that is associated with the file type.
  5. Make your changes in the desktop application.
  6. Save the changes and close the desktop application.
  7. In M-Files Web, right-click the document in the listing area.
  8. Click Check in.
Your edits are checked in to the vault and can be seen by other users.
