Video: How to Use Views in M-Files

In M-Files, you can use views to quickly find information that you use frequently. You can think of them as saved searches. There are three kinds of views:
  • The view tabs in the top left corner of the user interface. These are All, Recent, Pinned, Assigned, and Checked out.
  • The views that you have created for yourself. To see your views as a list, select the All tab in the top left corner of the user interface and expand My views.
  • Common views that are available for all vault users. Your M-Files admin has configured these for you.
Note: This feature is in development for M-Files Web and the new M-Files Desktop. More functionalities will be available soon.

Personal and common views

Personal views are views that only you can see. These are shown under My views.

Common views are views that are meant for all vault users. To create common views, you must be a system admin or have one of these administrative rights in the vault: Full control of vault or Manage common views and notification rules. With these administrative rights, you can set a view as a common view and edit the view permissions. To do this, select Show view options () > Edit view permissions.

You can also create a personal copy of a common view to edit it.
