Exporting and Importing Hub Configurations

Note: You must have hub admin rights to do this.

You can export hub configurations to a file. With the configurations file, you can create hubs, update hubs, or create hub templates. You can include, for example, the modules and watermark template configurations of a hub to the file.

You can export and import these dashboard widgets:
  • Social
  • Related hubs
  • To-do list
  • File activity
  • Custom content
  • Extension content with an M-Files gRPC connection
Note: To export and import M-Files widget configurations, gRPC must be set up in M-Files. For more information, refer to Setting Up M-Files to Use gRPC.

Exporting hub configurations

To export hub configurations to a file:

  1. On the navigation bar, click the my hubs icon () and select All hubs.
    Result:The My hubs page is opened.
  2. Click the three-dots menu icon () of a hub and select Export hub configurations.
    Result:The Export hub configurations dialog opens.
  3. On the left side of the dialog, select the hub configurations to include in the exported file.
  4. On the right side of the dialog, enter the name of the export file in File name.
  5. Click Export hub configurations.
    Result:The Notification center opens and shows the status of the export.
  6. In the Notification center, click Download the file in the notification of the exported file.
    Result:The hub configurations file is downloaded to your computer.

Importing hub configurations

To import hub configurations:

  1. On the navigation bar, click the my hubs icon () and select Import hub configurations.
    Result:The Import hub configurations dialog opens.
  2. On the left side of the dialog, drag and drop or select a HUB file from your computer.
    Result:Your file is uploaded to M-Files Hubshare.
  3. Select one of these options:
    • Create a hub
      or
    • Create a hub template
      or
    • Update hubs
  4. Do the necessary steps.
    When you click the button Create a hub or Create a hub template, you will go to the Set up your hub page. For information on the page, see Creating Hubs.
