Managing File Features

Note: To configure the modules of a hub, you must have hub admin rights. To configure the modules of the organization-level hub, you must have organization-level admin rights.

You can enable the search in file content, check in and check out, file version history, and file index features for the Files module.

To enable file features:

  1. On the sidebar of a hub, move your cursor to the Manage hub icon () and select Configuration and style.
    Result:A pane opens to the right side of the user interface.
  2. Expand Files configuration.
  3. Enable the settings that you want.

    Allow searching in file content Enable this setting to let users search content in files. For more information on search, refer to Searching in the M-Files Hubshare user guide.
    Enable checking files in and out Enable this setting to let users check out and check in files in the hub. For more information, refer to Checking Out and Checking In Files in the M-Files Hubshare user guide.
    Activate version history

    Enable this setting to let users see information about the different versions, and copy and save previous versions of documents in the Files module. With version history, it is also possible to make a document version the official document version.

    In the Activate version history section, specify the settings.

  4. Click Save.
You can set watermarks to be added to documents when they are viewed or printed. See Setting Up Watermarks
