  • Applications will be disabled in the new vault.
  • It is not possible to copy a vault to a different region.
  • It is not possible to change the service type from isolated to multi-tenant.

To copy a vault:

  1. Log in to M-Files Manage at https://manage.m-files.com.
  2. In the left-side page navigation, click Vaults.
    Result:The Vaults page is opened.
  3. Click a vault name.
    Result:The vault information is shown.
  4. In the top-right corner of the vault information, click the three-dot menu.
  5. Click Copy vault.
Result:The Copy vault dialog is opened.
  6. If you have many M-Files subscriptions, select the subscription to which you want to create the new vault.
  7. Enter information for the new vault.
M-Files uses the entered or selected values to automatically fill subsequent fields or show the available options for them.
Some fields cannot necessarily be edited. For more information, see important information.
    1. In Data to copy, select whether you want to copy the vault with or without vault content.
To create a full copy of the vault, select Content and structure. If you select Structure only, these items are copied: object types, value lists, property definitions, classes, class groups, views, workflows, metadata structure translations, event handlers, and applications.
    2. In Vault name, enter a name for the vault.
The allowed characters are upper and lower case alphabets from A to Z, numbers from 0 to 9, hyphens, underscores, and spaces.
    3. In Vault address, enter a unique name, sometimes called a domain name, as the first node.
The address can only contain letters, numbers, and hyphens. A hyphen cannot be the first or the last character.
  8. Click Copy.

It will take some time to create the vault. If there is a lot of data to copy, the process can take several hours to complete.

You can monitor the progress of the vault creation on the Vaults page. The progress icon () shows you the completion level of the operation. When the vault is ready, the complete icon () is shown instead. M-Files Manage will also show you a success message, unless you refresh the page during the vault creation.

You will automatically get the full control rights to the vault. When the vault is created, you can access the vault in M-Files Web. To do this, click the vault address link and enter your credentials.
