Copying a cloud vault
Important information
- This is a preview version of
the functionality. This means that it has some limitations and it is possible that it does
not operate correctly in all cases. The functionality is in active development and will be
improved in the next releases. Current limitations:
- It is not possible to copy the structure and content of a vault with over 10 GB of file data.
- It is not possible to copy vaults that use Azure Key Vault for file encryption.
- The new vault uses dtSearch as the search engine. This applies also if the original vault uses Smart Search.
- Applications are disabled in the new vault.
- It is not possible to copy a vault to a different region.
- It is not possible to change the service type from isolated to multi-tenant.
- It is not possible to change the M-Files subscription for the new vault.
- The server must use M-Files April '24 Update (24.4.13592.4) or later.
To copy a vault:
It will take some time to create the vault. If there is a lot of data to copy, the process can take several hours to complete.
You can monitor the progress of the vault creation on the
Vaults page. The progress icon () shows you the completion level of the operation. When
the vault is ready, the complete icon (
) is shown instead.
M-Files Manage will also show you a success message, unless you
refresh the page during the vault creation.
You will automatically get the full control rights to the vault. When the vault is created, you can access the vault in M-Files Web. To do this, select the vault address link and enter your credentials.
