Adding M-Files Explorer Widgets

Note: To configure the modules of a hub, you must have hub admin rights. To configure the modules of the organization-level hub, you must have organization-level admin rights.

To add the M-Files Explorer widget to the hub dashboard:

  1. On the hub dashboard, click the pen icon () and select New widget.
    Result:The Add widget dialog opens.
  2. In the Widgets connected with M-Files section, select M-Files Explorer.
    Result:The Select source widget dialog opens.
  3. Select the source widget.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Enter a name for the widget and select its size.
  6. Click Next.
  7. In Extension, select M-Files.
  8. Next to the M-Files field, select the type of M-Files widget.
  9. In Extension configuration, select a connection.
    If the connection you need is not in the list, you can create it. For more information, see Adding Connections from M-Files Hubshare to M-Files and Setting Up M-Files Widgets.
    Result:The M-Files widget configuration section is shown.
  10. Specify the settings for the M-Files widget.
    Location Setting or command Description
    Configuration > Display Select object type This setting lets you specify the type of M-Files objects that the widget shows.
    Configuration > Display Show files of objects When this option is enabled, the files of the M-Files objects are shown in the widget's listing area.
    Configuration > Display Relationships filtering Specify which object relationships are shown in the widget's listing area.
    Configuration > Actions Downloading and printing files enabled Enable this setting to let users download and print documents shown in the widget.
    Configuration > Actions Saving annotations enabled Enable this setting to let users add annotations to documents and save them as new documents.
    Configuration > Actions Users can add files to objects Enable this setting to let users add files to existing objects.
    Configuration > Actions Users can create objects Enable this setting to let users create new objects.
    Configuration > Actions Editing files enabled Enable this setting to let users update the content in existing files and edit files in Office for the web. The edited file is saved as a new file version.
    Configuration > Actions Use allowed extensions list Enable this setting to let users add or edit files with allowed file extensions only.
    Configuration > Others Allow CSV export Enable this setting to let users create a CSV export of the widget contents.
    Configuration > Others Show activities to all internal users Enable this setting to let all internal hub users see and use the Activities button in the widget. If this setting is disabled, only hub admins can see and use the button.
    Metadata query Add filter Specifies the conditions that the M-Files objects must meet to be shown in the widget.
    Uploads > Metadata Add the upload metadata Specifies metadata that is given to all uploaded files. Click the pen icon () to let the user who uploads the file specify the property value.
    Uploads > Options (Options) Specifies how the content is saved when a user uploads many items at once.
    Metadata display Show object metadata in the widget Enable this setting to show metadata of the M-Files objects in the widget.
    Metadata display > Select metadata (Listing area) Specifies which metadata is shown in the widget, which metadata is shown as a column, and which metadata can be edited.
    Metadata display > Sort metadata (Options) Specifies the order of the properties on the metadata card.
    Metadata display > Column order (Options) Specifies the order of the properties that are shown as a column in the widget.
    Filtering settings Add property Specifies which properties can be used in the widget view filter.
  11. Click Next.
  12. In Widget rights, specify the users who can see the widget.
  13. Click Save.
